Croquet Mantle

Last Summer, 2012, I decided I had to have a vintage croquet set. Living in Hot springs Village I have wonderful access to great estate, garage and moving sales. I also have Hot Springs flea markets, resale shops, and antique stores. After searching high and low I finally found, an old enough to look vintage, croquet set. It had all it's parts and was $10 SOLD!
I brought it home and took it apart, thankfully the mallets unscrew with a little elbow grease. I washed all the pieces thoroughly (as you should always do when buying used). I made a fun little arrangement of a "gaming" mantle.
The Chinese Checker piece came from my favorite antique store in Hot Springs, Moonlight Antiques, they are so helpful, and provide as much history about items as possible. This checkers board is from 1936. These photos are pre blogging, so I didn't have one from far away of the board, but it was in the center of the pink background board.
Speaking of... the pink background is actually the foot board of my paternal grandmothers bed. I had her bed in my garage, but it was way too squeaky and old to use. So I stripped it for parts, and ta da. The pink paint was simply to brighten up my living room, and I used a stencil for the pattern.

Thanks for stopping by!
